Since the early 1990s engineers from AT have developed and optimized oleochemical methods for the processing and refining of oils and animal fats. Their intensive research and development activities resulted in the registration of a patent (EP1183225) on what has come to be known as the “DADM“ process” (De-acidification & De-moisturing of vegetable oils and animal fats).
This process (chemically defined as an alcoholic neutralization) permits operators of biodiesel plants to use a wide variety of first and second generation fat- and oil-based feedstocks (MULTI-FEEDSTOCK). FFA is removed from the feedstock by applying crude glycerol from transesterification section.
